Chris Glover is the host of the top-rated show ‘Metro Morning’ on CBC Radio 1, 99.1 FM.
Chris’ career has taken him from a cub reporter in Halifax to the legislative correspondent for CBC News in Manitoba and ultimately back as a host in his home, and favourite city.
With 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism, Chris was most recently a host of CBC’s national investigative TV show ‘Marketplace.’ When anchoring CBC Toronto TV and CBC News Network, Chris brings his unique brand of humour and humanity that he’s developed over his many years making connections with people across Canada. He’s gone on multiple international deployments for CBC, including hours of live reporting from the steps of the US Supreme Court in the moments after the overturning of Roe v Wade.
Chris loves hosting live events and election specials. He hosted the last three city election specials for CBC Toronto. His 2023 election coverage won a national RTDNA award for ‘Best Live Special.’ In 2021, Chris was named as a finalist for ‘Best Reporter, Local’ at the Canadian Screen Awards.
Whether hosting an election special digesting complicated results or getting caught up in the hoopla of the Raptors’ Victory Parade as the sideline reporter of CBC’s National TV special, Chris loves to bring an energetic and lively performance to any broadcast.
Chris is also a mentor and leader behind the scenes. He’s designed and facilitated multiple courses for CBC News, including one aimed at reporters for advancing their live storytelling skills. In 2020, Chris developed a course to empower other content creators, and those who lead them, to tell stories that showcase creativity, highlight personality and stand out in a crowded media landscape.
Chris loves exploring Toronto’s vibrant neighbourhoods and hiking through the city’s lush ravines. And don’t be surprised if you catch him singing every now and then, he’s a proud member of Toronto’s queer choir Tempo.
